... La Verna Cave ...

La Verna Cave is a place where our sense of direction is upended, time and space become imperceptible without light. It is the largest underground chamber fitted out for visitors. To visit it, one must go through Haute-Soule and push the charismatic door installed by EDF. Once inside, you find yourself in Béarn.
An excerpt from Guy Reibel’s notes on his piece Machination explains the musical process used in this recording:
“The entire movement unfolds without any intervention other than the initial and final gestures that set the device in motion and bring it to a stop. Of course, the machine has no consciousness and therefore creates nothing but doesn’t the meticulous preparation of the setup itself constitute a sufficient intention, one that suspends the apparent initiative of the machine?”
